The Committee has 18 members, 2 staff, and a chairman (a full-time faculty member). Faculty and staff representing specialties in law, ecology, infectious disease, plant pathology, animal pathology, insects and virology sit on the Committee. Community members include a lawyer in Eldercare and an industrial hygiene engineer from the Southern Arizona Veterans Administration Healthcare System. Thus local citizens, faculty and staff of the University all have an opportunity to examine biosafety issues.
